MIKAEL JORGENSEN
Ojai’s own Mikael Jorgensen has been a recording and touring member of the critically acclaimed, Grammy Award winning rock band Wilco since 2002. Jorgensen has cultivated a lifelong fascination with the intersection of music technology and human expression. This manifests itself across multiple projects. Quindar is an electronic duo that has remixed the NASA Audio & Film Archive into an LP and immersive live show. In Expandards, Jorgensen performs slowed-down selections from the American Songbook with singer Isaac Koren using synthesizers. Rancho Electro is an electronic music performance and collaboration, filmed and recorded in an unexpected natural environment.
As a producer, engineer, composer & arranger Jorgensen’s abilities span a wide range of projects from Stereolab’s “Sound Dust” LP, to scoring 2016’s “Prestige Ingredients” and the delightfully silly “How To Make A Duct Tape Coin Pouch” video with Joel Fox / Smile Mtn. Productions.
His wide-ranging education, including studies in fine arts, video, electronics, and computer science, provided him an extraordinary base for his work as a master of modern-digital and retro-analog production.
Mikael was a featured Artist for Ventura’s Focus on the Masters series in 2017. Jorgensen will be joining OYO as a guest artist faculty member and as the wizard behind our electronic score manipulations for the Education Outreach performances and world premiere.
